Italians have long been envied for their
good looks, art and culture, and of course their cuisine.
Al Dente at Colours By The Bay, Esplanade, is the prefect
example of what it means to be Italian. The restaurant oozes
style and taste. Dark green and beige predominate to create
a look of contemporary elegance, enhanced by modern furnishings
and soft lighting. Sketches by Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli-inspired
paintings lend a touch of romance, adding to the total look
and feel of Al Dente. The restaurant is spread over two
levels and offers diners an uninterrupted view of the waterfront.
Al Dente is definitely the place to be when making an impression
matters.
The food served is authentic Italian, right down to its
wood-fired pizzas for that special aroma. Al Dente offers
no-nonsense pizzas that come generously laden with a wide
choice of toppings. Its Hawaiian pizza has a popular following,
and comes topped with chunks of pineapple and bacon instead
of the usual chopped ham. Besides pizzas, Al Dente also
offers a wide choice of pastas to thrill pasta lovers, including
its ever-popular Salmone and Spaghetti Arragosta. For a
sweet ending, Al Dente tempts with its rich Tiramisu, Gelato
and fine Italian Cappucino.
Its wine list features close to 40 labels from Italy, Australia
and the United States. The wines are categorised according
to their strength, from light to full-bodied.
Al Dente is owned by Creative Eateries. The first Al Dente
Italian restaurant opened at Boat Quay, followed soon after
by a second restaurant at Lorong Mambong, Holland Village.
Al Dente is looking to attract working adults and tourists
at its newest restaurant at Esplanade.
Prices have been deliberately kept "friendly",
says Anthony Wong, CEO of Creative Eateries. A three-course
meal would average about $70, while wine prices start from
under $40.
Anthony has extensive experience in the Food and Beverage
business. He started his career in the industry by working
in the F&B department of international chain hotels.
In 1992, he opened his first restaurant. To date, Creative
Eateries operates Al Dente, Hot Stones, Patara Fine Thai
Cuisine and Intermezzo.
